Music in the valley
Cockcrow |
Ettore Gualdini was born in Frosinone in 1931. The lively brightness of his pictures celebrates the beauty of Ciociaria. His works depict a pleasant countryside in which the brilliant and bright colours describe places where the man and nature live in perfect harmony. The chromatic contrasts, rich of nuances, exalt the vigour of a nature that is simple, but poetical.
"Ciociaria’s countryside" expresses the poetical sprightliness of a landscape. With a mixture of colours Gualdini fuses nature and human world. Farmed fields and simple dwelling places almost seem not to be distinguished and belong to the same reality in which the contamination of men has not arrived yet. "Music in the valley" has a particular atmosphere. The round shapes of hills and the sober and sky-blue nuances of the background make the landscape harmonious and welcoming; pink and white colours are a link between the sky and the earth and prepare the watcher to the bright tones of green and yellow. It really seems to hear a pleasant and suffused melody that fills the valley. "Cockcrow" depicts a countryside waking up and preparing to a new day. The suffused colours of dawn prevail, but the real protagonists are the rainbows: the first one fills all the sky with its arch; the other one is the cock's tail. The clear-cut outlines mark the border between the light blue of hills on the background and the yellow of cornfields in the middle of the scene.Annarita De Rubeis II C |
